Weekly Devotional – March 25

How is it that we as Christians can know true joy in the midst of experiences of genuine sorrow? What does it look like for us to live honestly in a broken world while also maintaining joy in our hope in Christ?    Psalm 126 helps us to think about those questions.

Reminders & Updates – March 25, 2020

Announcements for the week of 3/25-4/1:

  1. Family worship This is a unique time where families (roommates, couples with kids, couples without kids) have extra time together. Let’s not miss out on an opportunity to cultivate and strengthen habits that utilize the means of grace to grow. Looking for help or ideas? Click here for suggestions and we’ll continue to send out ideas. Have an idea? Share them!
  2. Prayer Meeting on Zoom (4/1/20) Lord willing, we are planning to meet virtually via computer teleconference on Wednesday evening, April 1st at 6:30 PM to pray. We’ll send out more details and instructions this week, but please mark your calendars.
  3. Sunday Gatherings and DiscipleLife (Sunday School) Plan Following the instructions from the CDC, all public gatherings will continue to be closed until further notice. We’ll continue to send out Sunday’s sermon, Scripture reading, pastoral prayer, and songs for our edification (check out #4 below). As for DiscipleLife (Sunday School), our plan is to put the 2 electives on hold but encourage those in the Gospel Project and/or Explore the Bible classes to use booklets as a supplement to your time in God’s word throughout the week. Any questions, please contact Pam Jensen at [email protected].
  4. Preparing to Listen on Sundays Not gathering together on Sunday as we normally do is not only hard relationally (Oh how we long to see each other face to face!), but it can be hard to listen in a new environment. Take a moment to check out these suggestions to better prepare your heart and mind on Sunday mornings.
  5. Giving We encourage you to continue to faithfully give as a way to sustain the gospel ministry at FBCUM and as a means for us to care for those in need as a church family. You can give online or mail in your offering to the church office. To guide and help us consider the New Testament’s teaching on giving, we’ve included a quick read hereChurch members who have a benevolence request, please contact the church office at [email protected].
  6. Testimonies of God’s Grace As you see God’s grace in the midst of the Coronavirus crisis: opportunities to share the gospel, ways you’ve been encouraged by other members, ideas you have for caring for others, etc. let us know. We want to hear your stories! Jot them down and email them to [email protected].

If you have any questions, please contact the church office.
