Sr. Pastor Zach Schlegel – April 22, 2020
Announcement

Mid-week Announcements on April 22, 2020

1) Mid-week devotional – Take 15 minutes tomorrow (4/22/20) to check out our mid-week devotional from Pastor Zach Schlegel as he looks at Exodus 1-14.

2) Caring for practical needs of those hurting in Prince George’s County & Lincoln Heights – Having known the love of God in Christ, God gives His children a desire to love and serve not just ourselves but others (see Galatians 6:10, 1 John 4:7). This week we have two opportunities we want to highlight and ask you to consider helping with:

i) Mercy of Christ Fellowship Church (a sister church in Lincoln Heights) is asking for Household Items (listed below).  These things are hard for anyone to come by, but especially hard for families affected by the pandemic living in public housing of Ward 7. If you’re able to spare any extra of your own or find any on sale and you’d like to contribute, that’s what we’re looking for.

ii) Local officials from Prince Georges County are asking churches to help supply Household Items for families in our community that are in need.

Household Items List

Toilet Paper, Paper Towels, Hand Sanitizer, Disinfectant Wipes and Spray

Baby diapers, Adult diapers, Baby formula, Baby Wipes, and Rubbing alcohol

  • When can I drop off?  Friday (April 24), 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM; Saturday 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Where do I drop off? At the shed behind FBCUM.
  • Questions? Please contact pastor Tyrone who will be coordinating a team to receive and deliver goods.

3) Testimony of Grace – FBCUM kids! – Last week, Pam Jensen and I had the chance to talk to a handful of FBCUM kids (with parents) on ZOOM. The kids had worked on memorizing Psalm 23 and the catechism questions we’d covered that month from My 1st Book of Questions and Answers. Way to go guys – it was so encouraging! In addition to this, Ronnie and Chrissy Sweetman have continued to lead our kids in memorizing Scripture in our AWANA program. Thank you to all our parent leaders who continue to video chat with the kids, encourage them, and go over the Bible verses they memorized. Jesus reminds us in Matthew 21:16, “From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise”. As a testimony of God’s grace this week, we’ve included a few videos of our kids hiding God’s word in their hearts. Keep up the good work kids! Take a moment to listen!

As you see God’s grace in the midst of the Coronavirus crisis: opportunities we have to share the gospel, ways we’ve been encouraged by other members, ideas you have for caring for others, etc., let us know. We want to hear your stories! Jot them down and email them to [email protected].

4) Book Recommendations for this week is a daily devotional: Heart of the Matter: Daily Reflections for changing Hearts and Lives. Edited by Nancy B. Winter.

5) Sermon Card for May – July 2020 – We’ve attached a sermon card that lets you know the Scriptures we’ll be covering Lord willing from May through July (2020). As always, we encourage you to read the passage we’ll be covering during the week to prepare your heart and mind for Sunday.

6) Giving We encourage you to continue to faithfully give as a way to sustain the gospel ministry at FBCUM and as a means for us to care for those in need as a church family. You can give online or mail in your offering to the church office. Church members who have a benevolence request, please contact the church office at [email protected].
