Mid-week Announcements on September 2, 2020
1) Mid-week devotional – In a day when we are so easily distracted, it’s good to remember our growth as Christians comes from beholding God’s glory. This is what Paul says in 2 Corinthians 3:18 “And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” This week’s midweek devotional comes from Pastor Rob Mancuso. He helps us look at the spirituality of God in our series on the Attributes of God. Take a moment this afternoon to listen!
2) FBCUM Virtual Prayer Meeting is tonight September at 6:30 PM – Tonight at 6:30 we plan to meet as a church family for a prayer meeting at 6:30. Please check your email for the ZOOM information to join us. If you have any questions, please contact the church office for help.
3) Kids Scripture Memory and Catechism – On Wednesday, September 23rd at 6:30 PM, Pastor Zach and Pam Jensen will be leading a time with parents and kids (ages 3-12) over ZOOM to go over the next section of catechism questions. Here’s what we hope to cover
Scripture Memory Challenge | Catechism Questions from My 1st Book of Questions and Answers. |
#1 – James 1:21 | 1) Keeping God’s Law (3 Questions) |
#2 – James 2:8 | 2) The Way to be Saved (3 Questions) |
4) Celebrating the Lord’s Supper on Sunday, September 6th – Lord willing, we will renew our covenant as a church family by celebrating the Lord’s Supper this Sunday at our outdoor morning service. Please read the following communication from the elders beforehand (posted in July) on how we plan to take the meal and this article to guide you in preparing your heart.
5) Book Recommendation – [Bible Study Tool] New Bible Dictionary, Edited by I. Howard Marshall, A.R. Millard, J.I. Packer, and D.J. Wiseman.
6) Memorizing James together: As we study the letter of James, we want to offer a Scripture memory challenge to our church as a way to hide God’s word in our heart. We’re suggesting two options: Path A is to memorize the entire book of James, Path B is to memorize particular sections from James. Check out this guide to see the schedule for each path, various tools to help you memorize, and other encouragements.
7) Gathering Outdoors on Sundays – Lord willing, we plan on meeting outside again this Sunday, September 6th. Please take a moment to read this FAQ sheet to know what to expect and to make sure you have all the relevant details. Please contact the church office with any questions.
8) FBCUM Playlist – Check out the playlist on the resources section of our church’s website. We’ve collected all the songs we’ve recorded during the last two months for our edification and encouragement: Master Playlist
9) Giving We encourage you to continue to faithfully give as a way to sustain the gospel ministry at FBCUM and as a means for us to care for those in need as a church family. You can give online or mail in your offering to the church office. Church members who have a benevolence request, please contact the church office at [email protected].
If you have any questions, please contact the church office.
