Announcement
Mid-week Announcements on September 23, 2020
1) Mid-week devotional – In our series on the Attributes of God, Pastor Tony teaches in this week’s midweek devotional on the omnipresence of God – how God is everywhere present at all times. Such truth about God can be mind-blowing but also a great comfort and help. Take a moment this afternoon to listen.
2) Kids Scripture Memory and Catechism – is tonight Wednesday, September 23rd. At 6:30 PM, Pastor Zach and Pam Jensen will be leading a time with parents and kids (ages 3-12) over ZOOM to go over the next section of catechism questions. Here’s what we hope to cover
Scripture Memory Challenge | Catechism Questions from My 1st Book of Questions and Answers. |
#1 – James 1:21 | 1) Keeping God’s Law (3 Questions) |
#2 – James 2:8 | 2) The Way to be Saved (3 Questions) |
3) FBCUM Singing Under the Stars – For those who are able to join us, we are hoping to gather on the front lawn of the church to socially distanced sing together and encourage one another with readings from God’s word. Weather permitting, we’re planning on 6:00-7:00 PM on September 27th. Check your email later today for specific details and instructions for that night.
4) Rejoicing with those who rejoice – We praise God with Chris and Amy Salamon (and big sister Norah) for the life of Ainsely Grace Salamon, who was born on September 21st, 2020 at 9 pounds, 11 oz!
5) Grieving with those who grieve – Let’s continue to pray for and send encouragement to those who are grieving the loss of loved ones. As a reminder, the viewing for Tory Galeano is today from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Lee Funeral Home in Owings, MD and the funeral is on Thursday at 11:30. Due to COVID, attendance is limited so will be broadcasting the funeral on ZOOM – please check your email for information or contact the church office with questions.
6) FBCUM Playlist – Check out the playlist on the resources section of our church’s website. We’ve collected all the songs we’ve recorded for our edification and encouragement: https://fbcum.orgmedia-library/. This week we wanted to highlight a new song we’ve added to our media library titled “Lord from Sorrows Deep I Call”.
7) Book Recommendation – War of Words: Getting to the Heart of Your Communication Struggles, by Paul David Tripp
8) Memorizing James together: We want to offer a Scripture memory challenge to our church as a way to hide God’s word in our heart. We’re suggesting two options: Path A is to memorize the entire book of James, Path B is to memorize particular sections from James. Check out this guide to see the schedule for each path, various tools to help you memorize, and other encouragements.
9) Gathering Outdoors on Sunday – Lord willing, we plan on meeting outside again this coming Sunday as well as offer the live-stream option for those who are at high-risk or not ready to gather. Please take a moment to read this FAQ sheet to know what to expect and to make sure you have all the relevant details. Please contact the church office with any questions.
10) Giving We encourage you to continue to faithfully give as a way to sustain the gospel ministry at FBCUM and as a means for us to care for those in need as a church family. You can give online or mail in your offering to the church office. Church members who have a benevolence request, please contact the church office at [email protected].
If you have any questions, please contact the church office.
