Mid-week Announcements on December 9, 2020

1) Mid-week devotional – As we continue on in our series on wisdom (living skillfully in God’s world), we turn to this morning to the Psalms, looking specifically at Psalm 46. The Psalms are God’s inspired hymnbook. We don’t just read them we are meant to pray and sing the psalms. So, our devotional this week has four simple components: Read, Reflect, Pray, and Praise. Begin with the devotional, then end with the song of praise:

a) Mid-week Devotional: Psalm 46 “God our Refuge and Strength”
(*We also put this content on our podcast platforms: Google Podcast or Apple Podcast)

b) “A Mighty Fortress is our God” – FBCUM YouTube

2) FBCUM Prayer Meeting, December 16th, at 6:30 PM (ZOOM only)– Lord willing, we plan on having a churchwide prayer next Wednesday at 6:30 PM on ZOOM. Please mark your calendars as we come together to praise God, cast our burdens on Him and ask Him for all we need. If you have any questions, please contact the church office.

3) Kids Scripture Memory and Catechism – Tonight at 6:30 PM, Pastor Zach, and Pam Jensen will be leading a time with parents and kids (ages 3-12) over ZOOM to go over the next section of catechism questions. Lord willing, we plan to cover

Scripture Memory Challenge Catechism Questions from My 1st Book of Questions and Answers.
#1 – James 5:13 1) Prayer (4 Questions)
#2 – Hebrews 7:25 2) Where is Jesus now? (3 Questions)

4) Brief Members Meeting this Sunday (12/13) after service – Immediately following our Sunday morning service, we’re asking the members of FBCUM to join us inside for a brief members meeting (around 5-10 minutes) where we plan to vote on the 2021 budget, members who’ve moved on and members seeking to join our church family. We plan on sending the PowerPoint with information on membership, so you have a chance to see things ahead of time and provide time for any questions before we meet on Sunday.

5) Book Recommendation: Enjoy Your Prayer Life, by: Michael Reeves

6) Disaster Relief Volunteer Opportunity – In September, there was a severe rainstorm that caused widespread flooding in a number of homes in Prince George’s County. . Our Disaster Relief team is helping out these families with flood recovery (removing damaged drywall, cleaning, etc.) in an effort to help them get back up on their feet, share the love of Christ and the good news. For those interested in helping out you can find out more information and sign up here: SignupGeniusDCsuburb, and contact the church office with questions.

7) Indoor Meeting Plans: Lord willing, we will continue to meet indoors for the duration of the winter season. You can find out our plans for meeting indoors by reading the Indoor gathering FAQ sheet. Please note, we plan to continue to offer the live-stream option for the duration of COVID-19. If you have any questions, please contact the church office with any questions.

8) FBCUM Playlist – Check out the playlist on the resources section of our church’s website. We’ve collected all the songs we’ve recorded over the last several months for our edification and encouragement:  FBCUM Worship Songs
