Mid-week Announcements on December 23, 2020
1) Mid-week devotional – As we continue on in our series on wisdom (living skillfully in God’s world), we turn to this morning to the Psalms, looking specifically at Psalm 32. The Psalms are God’s inspired hymnbook, so we don’t just read them, we pray and sing the psalms. Our devotional this week has four simple components: Read, Reflect, Pray, and Praise. Begin with the devotional, then end with the song of praise:
a) Mid-week Devotional: Psalm 32 “Blessed are the Forgiven”
(*We also put this content on our podcast platforms: Google Podcast or Apple Podcast)
b) “Blessed is the One” – FBCUM YouTube channel
2) FBCUM Christmas Eve Service – Tomorrow is Christmas Eve! Though we won’t be gathering in person this year we are still planning on celebrating the coming of our Savior with a Christmas Eve recording that includes Scripture readings, Carols, and a message from Pastor Tony from 1 Thessalonians 4. Check your email for information this afternoon as we plan on broadcasting the recording on YouTube (FBCUM Channel) at 5:00 PM.
3) Testimony of Grace – This past year, our Audio-Visual crew has gone above and beyond in serving our church family to make sure we’ve been able to communicate God’s word both in-person and online. We want to thank God for the work of Eric Sohn, Ken Grimsley, David Lowe, Mosi Winder, Michael Delamarter, and Phil Jensen! Thank you guys!
4) Book Recommendation: Side by Side: Walking with Others in Wisdom and Love, by Edward T. Welch
5) Disaster Relief Volunteer Opportunity – In September, there was a severe rainstorm that caused widespread flooding in a number of homes in Prince George’s County. . Our Disaster Relief team is helping out these families with flood recovery (removing damaged drywall, cleaning, etc.) in an effort to help them get back up on their feet, share the love of Christ and the good news. For those interested in helping out you can find out more information and sign up here: SignupGeniusDCsuburb, and contact the church office with questions.
6) Indoor Meeting Plans: Lord willing, we will continue to meet indoors for the duration of the winter season. You can find out our plans for meeting indoors by reading the Indoor gathering FAQ sheet. Please note, we plan to continue to offer the live-stream option for the duration of COVID-19. If you have any questions, please contact the church office with any questions.
7) FBCUM Playlist – Check out the playlist on the resources section of our church’s website. We’ve collected all the songs we’ve recorded over the last several months for our edification and encouragement: FBCUM Worship Songs
8) Giving We encourage you to continue to faithfully give as a way to sustain the gospel ministry at FBCUM and as a means for us to care for those in need as a church family. You can give online or mail in your offering to the church office. Church members who have a benevolence request, please contact the church office at [email protected].
If you have any questions, please contact the church office.
