Announcement

Mid-week Announcements on January 27, 2021

1) Mid-week devotional – As we continue on in our series on wisdom (living skillfully in God’s world), we return to the book of Proverbs. Today, Pastor Josh dives into Proverbs 18:10 which reminds us where our ‘strong tower’ is – our place of refuge as we make ourselves vulnerable in putting others before ourselves in love.

2) FBCUM Prayer Meeting, February 3rd at 6:30 PM (ZOOM) – Lord willing, we plan on having a churchwide prayer meeting next Wednesday at 6:30 PM on ZOOM. Please check your email for the ZOOM invite and join us as we come together to praise God and make our requests known to Him. If you have any questions, please contact the church office.

3) Year Sabbatical Announcement for Pastor Danny Ryan and Bill Lowry – We are thankful for the faithful teaching, shepherding, care, and example of these two men. We had a chance to talk with them this past week to talk about their 2021 Sabbatical, what that means, and how we can pray for them. You can see this video interview here.

4) Evidences of Grace at FBCUM! As Paul says in 1 Corinthians 1:4, “I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus.” Let’s take time to thank God for evidences of grace in ways that members at FBCUM are loving one another, praying fervently, encouraging each other with God’s word, forgiving, bearing up with one another, and spurring each other on to love and good deeds. We like Paul need to pause and look for evidences of God’s grace all around us – both for our encouragement and God’s glory. How?

  • Take a moment to read Galatians 5:22-23 (fruit of the Spirit) or texts like Romans 12:6-8 or 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 (the Spirit equipping us to serve).
  • Look for evidences of grace in the lives of members.
  • Thank God for what you see and (like Paul) let the person know!

5) Book Recommendation: The Pilgrim’s Progress, By John Bunyan

6) Indoor Meeting Plans: Lord willing, we will continue to meet indoors for the duration of the winter season. You can find out our plans for meeting indoors by reading the Indoor gathering FAQ sheet. Please note, we plan to continue to offer the live-stream option for the duration of COVID-19. If you have any questions, please contact the church office with any questions.

7) FBCUM Playlist – Check out the playlist on the resources section of our church’s website. We’ve collected all the songs we’ve recorded over the last several months for our edification and encouragement:  FBCUM Worship Songs

8) Giving We encourage you to continue to faithfully give as a way to sustain the gospel ministry at FBCUM and as a means for us to care for those in need as a church family. You can give online or mail in your offering to the church office. Church members who have a benevolence request, please contact the church office at [email protected].
