COVID-19 Update — 08.06.21

Update (August 6) — Announcement

As many of you are already aware, the Prince George’s County Executive announced late this week that the county will reinstitute an indoor public mask mandate due to a continued rise in COVID-19 metrics. To comply with our county regulations, every individual over the age of five will be required to wear a mask at all times while inside the church building, even if they are fully vaccinated, beginning this Sunday, August 8. Although the mandate technically begins Sunday evening, the elders believe it’s wise to follow the spirit of the mandate and begin compliance during our worship gathering on Sunday morning. Masks are always available at the Welcome Desk in the foyer for those who need them.

We understand that this shift in progress toward an end to the pandemic can certainly be discouraging. And yet, as Christians, we know that God is still at work and fully in control. Therefore, we want to encourage you, like the Apostle Paul, to “rejoice in the Lord always…” (Phil. 4:4) and to “continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving” (Col. 4:2). And know that as we pursue the Lord in these ways that “the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:7). In this difficult season, let’s continue to pray this way—with gratitude and humility—for ourselves and our church family. Let’s continue to praise God that we’re able to safely sing, pray, read, and preach God’s Word as we gather.

We will continue as we have throughout COVID to provide the following: appropriate cleaning, sanitization, and air quality inside the church building; hand sanitizing stations; Lord’s Supper elements in individually wrapped containers; Comfort Rooms in various classrooms where the worship service can be viewed on television; a livestream of the worship service online. We continue to ask that if you are experiencing any symptoms of sickness that you remain home and watch services online.

If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact the church office or email us at at [email protected]

For His Glory!
