Fearing God In A Sin-Sick World

Ecclesiastes 8:1-17
Introduction
Wisdom is beneficial to those who walk by the light it provides. As Proverbs 3:13–14 says “Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold.” Wisdom helps us to steer clear of life’s pitfalls? Why? Because, “the Lord by wisdom founded the earth” (Proverbs 3:19). And yet, part of being wise is knowing that wisdom has limits. There are some things in life we cannot find out no matter how hard we search. Learning to rest and enjoy the life God gives us means coming to accept those limits and trust Him (Proverbs 3:5).
Sermon Outline
I. Use wisdom to navigate life’s dangers (8:1-10)
II. Accept the limits of wisdom to enjoy your supper (8:11-17)
