Close1 John 2:3-11
Introduction
When it comes to knowing where we stand with our Creator, we need more than wishful thinking – we need confidence. Lacking confidence in our relationship with God leads us to live out of insecurity, trying to earn God’s favor…never sure of what the future holds. But God doesn’t want us to live like that – He wants us to know. In fact, that’s why 1 John was written (see 1 Jn. 5:13). How then can we know that we really know God? How can we know if the Christianity we profess is genuine or not? John introduces two things to help us grow in our confidence of where we stand with God: obedience and love.
