Hear brief announcements from Pastor Zach on the Weekly Devotional, Updates, and encouraging stories from our congregation.
Mid-week Announcements on June 8, 2022
1) Summer Schedule – Our plan is to break for the summer with AWANA and our inductive Bible Study but maintain our first Wednesday of the month prayer meeting (mark your calendars for July 6th, 6:30 PM for our next prayer meeting). We encourage members to use this time to get to know their neighbors (have a BBQ, game night, book discussion, etc.) with the hope of sharing the gospel; slow down and enjoy intentional time together as a family; or meet up with another member (or two) of the church to read a book together (we have a large selection available at the church bookstall), memorize/discuss Scripture, or pray together.
2) Small Group Restart – Thank you to everyone who filled out our small group survey. We are excited to relaunch small groups this July, Lord willing. Please stay tuned for more information and feel free to contact the church office with any questions you may have about small groups.
3) Church Picnic on the Front Lawn—Sunday, July 10 – Save the date and join us for a picnic on the front lawn following the worship service on Sunday, July 10th. The church will provide pork BBQ and bottled water. You bring any picnic items you’d like for your family (side dishes, dessert, lawn chairs, blankets, pop-up tents, games, etc). We’re looking forward to a fun afternoon of fellowship together as a church family. Available to help with things like setup and cleanup? Please email Mike Rogers: [email protected])
4) New Summer DiscipleLife (Sunday School) Classes – This past Sunday, we began our next quarter of Sunday morning classes. It’s not too late to join us this coming Sunday:
a) “Explore the Bible” – We will be digging into 1 & 2 Kings, considering how a holy God is faithful to shepherd His people even when we’re prone to go our own way. We plan to offer two classes (Meeting in Rooms 114 and 117/118), taught by a rotation of teachers.
b) “Evangelism: Know and Share the Gospel” – Intimidated or discouraged in your evangelism? The aim of this class is to equip us with a better understanding of the gospel, practical tools, and confidence in God as we seek to share the good news! This class will meet in Room 115 and will be taught by Faris Hawit and Zach Schlegel.
c) “Time, Talent, and Treasure: managing God’s gifts” – What does it mean to manage money, time, and resources as a Christian? Join us in this class as we dig into biblical instruction on everything from budgeting, debt, giving, and financial freedom. This class will meet in Room 112 and will be taught by Tyrone Moorehead and Zak Kergel.
5) Updated Membership Directory – Updated Membership Directories are available in the church office. Feel free to stop in the office and ask the church staff for a copy. We hope you’ll use it as a means to establish fellowship with one another and as a prayer tool. Did you know if you briefly pray for the people pictured on one page each day you can pray for the whole church family in less than a month? Try it out this summer and let us know how it goes.
6) “Home Reach” Ministry – The Home Reach Ministry (formerly the Homebound ministry) is looking for members who are seriously interested in serving the Lord by spending time ministering to those church members not able to be physically present in the church. For more information contact Bernice McGuire at 301-855-5529 or [email protected].
7) Sunday Coffee Bar at FBCUM: We encourage you to take some time after the Sunday morning service to meet someone you may not recognize or get to know your fellow members, brothers, and sisters in the church. Please feel free to grab a cup of coffee and a cookie while you fellowship at our coffee bar in the Fellowship Hall. If you are interested in helping with the Coffee Bar, please contact Philip or Krystal Spuler @ (509) 475-7445. No experience or expertise is required.
8) VBS this Summer – VBS is back!! It is scheduled for June 27- July 1 from 9 am – 12:30 pm. Registration for children entering Kindergarten thru 6th Grade is open now. If you would like to volunteer to serve that week, please contact either Pam Jensen or Shelbey Strickland.
9) Giving We encourage you to continue to faithfully give as a way to sustain the gospel ministry at FBCUM and as a means for us to care for those in need as a church family. You can give online or mail your offering to the church office. Church members who have a benevolence request, please contact the church office at [email protected].
If you have any questions, please contact the church office.
