Mid-week Announcements on August 31, 2022

1) Elders Talk tonight, August 31st, 6:30 PM – Tonight at 6:30 PM, we’ll be looking at what the Bible says about our life together as a church followed by a Q&A with the elders. All are welcome – hope to see you there.

2) Upcoming Fall Schedule: As we head into September, keep in mind:

  1. Churchwide prayer meeting – September 7th, 6:30 PM
  2. Inductive Bible Study & AWANA & Choir practice begins September 14th, 6:30 PM

3) Marriage Conference — Saturday, September 10, 8:30 am—12noon. All are invited to join us for a free, half-day Marriage Conference aimed at encouraging and equipping believers in “Building Your Marriage According to God’s Design”. Our guest speaker is Pastor, Bobby Scott, and his wife, Naomi, from Community of Faith Bible Church. We’re working on childcare for our church members, but you must register by August 31. 4) Backpack Drive with DayBreak Ministries & Mercy of Christ Fellowship Church: DayBreak is a Christian non-profit dedicated to strengthening low-income children of Washington, DC, with love, mercy, and the message of Jesus Christ. Our aim is to serve the physical and spiritual needs of the children and families within the Lincoln Heights community. On September 17, 2022, DayBreak will host a back-to-school celebration. Here is how we can help:

  1. Purchasing School Supplies – Visit the DayBreak School Supplies Registryto purchase one or more school supply kits. Please mail the kits to 4706 Clay St NE, Washington DC 20019 no later than September 14, 2022.
  2. Volunteering that Saturday to help run the carnival – The festival will be held at Marvin Gaye Park (5200 Foote St NE) from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. You can volunteer all or just some of the day. The volunteering tasks include: setup, running games, school supply distribution, food distribution, and break down/clean up. 5) New Fall DiscipleLife (Sunday School) Classes: Starting this Sunday (Sept. 4th) we will begin a new semester of class options:

    • Explore the Bible – Amos, Jonah, Hosea, Micah (Co-ed): Room 117/118
    • Explore the Bible – Amos, Jonah, Hosea, Micah (Women): Room 113
    • Resolving Everyday Conflict: Room 112
    • Suffering: Trusting God in Difficult Times: Room 114

6) Giving We encourage you to continue to faithfully give as a way to sustain the gospel ministry at FBCUM and as a means for us to care for those in need as a church family.
